After the Board meeting

Hi all--

Just wanted to check in after tonight's Board meeting at Marion. Lola, Rebecca, Karen & others have done a great job here helping to keep you updated on the managerial stuff, and I'm grateful.

The Board is well aware that our staff struggled like crazy to sandbag, move materials, save the Zerzanek materials, etc. They are deeply grateful for all you did to minimize the damage.

Also--I've been meeting daily with city managers. I have to applaud the city for moving quickly to establish order and create a plan. They have REALLY cooperated with the library. It's good to see.

Early tomorrow we will see the arrivals of gigantic dehumidifiers that will begin the process of drawing out all the moisture in the air (of which there is plenty.) Some of our books are starting to really suck it up, so they have to be dried out quickly before the mold starts.

I don't want to minimize the damage; there's a lot of loss. BUT--it's SO much better than I had envisioned that I feel we're going to be able to get through this and handle it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing y'all at tomorrow's meeting. If possible, I'll try to have some photos you can see (can't promise yet; computers are in short supply.)

Take care,
Tam
